This new brand identity will help engage and inspire a broad constituency who believes in outdoor equity

Today, Trust for Public Land (TPL) is launching a refresh of its brand — a new logo, tagline, and visuals — that fully represents the movement to connect everyone, everywhere to the benefits and joys of the outdoors. 

TPL data shows that 100 million people in the U.S., including 28 million children, do not have access to a quality park within a 10-minute walk of home. Communities of color and low-income communities have access to half the park space or less than white and higher-income communities. And many rural communities, often surrounded by private property, have too few shared spaces to connect to nature and each other. TPL is leading a movement to close this outdoor equity gap, once and for all. 

For nearly 50 years, TPL has worked directly with communities to create outdoor places where they are needed most. In order to engage and inspire the millions of people in the U.S. who believe they and future generations need equitable access to the healing and unifying power of nature and the outdoors, TPL is updating its brand to better connect with those audiences. TPL has made this change with the input and involvement of a broad spectrum of community members and leaders, donors, supporters, outdoor enthusiasts, and agency experts. 

“While we've been known for our decades of on-the-ground work from creating close-to-home parks to protecting public lands, TPL has seen the impacts of the outdoor equity gap in underserved communities,” said I Ling Thompson, SVP, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Trust for Public Land. “We understand that in order to close that gap and ensure everyone has access to the benefits and joys of the outdoors, we need to reach more people than ever and this brand update will help us achieve that.”
