Unicharm selected as one of Noteworthy DX Companies 2023 for its strategic IT investments; company's developments include menstrual management application, plans for diaper subscription model for daycare centers

June 2, 2023 (press release) –

Unicharm Corporation (CEO & President, Mr. Takahisa Takahara) was selected as one of the “Noteworthy DX Companies 2023” in the “Digital Transformation Issues (DX Issues) 2023” selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE). The "Digital Transformation Issues (DX Issues)" are selected jointly by METI and TSE as part of measures to promote strategic IT investments that will enhance corporate value and competitiveness over the medium to long term.

Sample Cases of DX Initiatives
ž・As a leading manufacturer of sanitary products, we are committed to a deep understanding of women's "menstruation" and to providing not only products but also software services. As part of these efforts, we have developed a menstrual management application and are providing the service from 2021. Specifically, "Sofy Girl," targeted at Generation Z, provides an application that allows anyone to easily manage their menstrual period. For adults, "Sofy" is an application that allows users to centrally manage their menstrual periods, ovulation predictions, and physical condition and more than 1.5 million people have used our products in total.(as of December 2022)

ž・We are developing a diaper subscription model, "Tebura Touen (going to daycare center hand free)," with the aim of helping to reduce the burden on parents and reduce the workload of daycare centers. The "Tebura Touen" program utilizes digital technology to create a system that automatically orders diapers when a daycare center's diaper inventory runs low, based on pre-registered children's data and usage status. This system reduces the workload of childcare workers and saves parents the trouble of bringing diapers and taking back used diapers home, thereby contributing to reducing the burden on both parties. To date, more than 3,500 childcare facilities have adopted the "Tebura Touen" system.(as of May 2023)
