Back-to-school season is in full swing and to help families get a smart start to the school year, Sam’s Club is serving up some lunch box math that can help caregivers save time and money on school lunches and after school snacks.

By stocking up on just seven bulk items at Sam’s Club, members can provide a month’s worth of school lunches for an average of $1.50 per lunch. This not only puts money back in members’ wallets, it also saves them time on shopping trips.

The savings really add up with these seven multi-pack products:

Item Average Price Number of Servings Cost Per Lunch
Member's Mark Fruity Snacks $9.98 100 $0.10
Member's Mark Potato Chips Variety Pack  $13.98 42 $0.33
Member's Mark Mandarin Oranges $10.68 24 $0.45
Jif Creamy Peanut Butter (2-Pack) * $8.66 82 $0.10
Welch's Concord Grape Jelly (2-Pack) * $4.48 84 $0.05
Wonder Classic White Bread (2-pack) $5.12 20 $0.26
Kool-Aid Jammers Juice Pouches Variety Pack $7.98 40 $0.20

And because shopping at Sam’s Club gives you bigger pack sizes, most of the items come with enough servings per container to carry into next month’s lunch plan or to use as after-school snacks.

“We know our members are looking for ways to save this back-to-school season but don’t want to compromise,” said Megan Crozier, chief merchant of Sam’s Club. “Our merchants have been hard at work to make sure our members are saving when they shop with us. And, as a mom myself, one of my favorite hacks is buying in bulk to not only save money but also to save time.”

Additional tips to help you calculate greater savings include:

  • Utilize Sam’s Club for back-to-school pantry shopping. One of the many advantages of shopping at Sam’s Club is access to bulk buying, which provides greater savings on items.
  • Get your kids involved in meal planning. You can avoid food waste by tapping them to help plan meals based on foods they love.
  • Go in with a plan and use Scan & Go while you’re shopping. Scan & Go allows you to keep track of the cost of items as you add them to your cart, so you always know your total. It also saves you time by skipping the checkout line.
  • Look for Member’s Mark items, the private brand for Sam’s Club, which deliver high quality at a great value.
