Beer packaging mimics look of acid tabs

The idea of a beer can label resembling hallucinogenic acid tabs is certainly a bold one, but it also makes complete sense within the context of the product. That product, a limited-edition double sour beer, comes from a microbrewery in Uruguay called Malafama. The brewery was interested in tapping into the Spanish word for "sourness," which happens to be "ácido." And so, its packaging resembles how acid is usually sold—as small squares of paper with pictures. Created by Gabinete Exquisito and Manuel Puig, the packaging design consists of a beer can with a double-sided and perforated paper label. On the outside, the label has a standard look, but on the inside, consumers can discover 98 quirky illustrations, and each tab can be ripped off individually.

Coffee packaging taps into nostalgia with design based on VHS tapes

In a time when video streaming services reign supreme, Northern Ireland-based roastery Process has embraced technology of the past, incorporating the lo-fi look of VHS cassette tapes into its coffee packaging. The design includes a sleeve featuring the energizing color gradients associated with VHS tapes, plus a “cassette tape” tray that hides the coffee bean bags inside. “From the ground up, design is created with interactivity in mind,” according to Angel & Anchor, the branding studio that created the look. For example, the glossy VHS tray container slides away from an inner tape revealing deboss details and a matte finish. Other VHS design elements include playful icons and smiley faces that line the tapes, which “replace what would typically be a Kodak or Fuji logo on VHS tapes,” says the studio, while “labels that would usually identify ‘Jeffersons Christmas 94’ are now used for the coffee region and varietal info.” Finally, on the back of the box, which includes different brew methods with step-by-step instructions, simple, debossed icons suggest the VHS story while expressing brand values.

The Reese's Pantry Pack is a shelf-ready and portable package containing 25 snack-sized peanut butter cups. The new format is ideal for stashing, storing, freezing and refrigerating to ensure the Reese's Cups are within arm's reach at any time. Moreover, thanks to its compact size, the pack can fit neatly into any storage space.
