RACINE, Wisconsin , March 18, 2024 (press release) –

The investment, in the tens of millions of dollars, includes new production lines and dozens of new jobs.

Today, SC Johnson announced it will invest nearly $50 million dollars in its plant in Brantford, Ontario. The plant, located on Webster St, currently produces Glade® candles, melts, and SC Johnson Professional products. This new investment includes bringing new production lines for Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil and method® personal care products, plus dozens of new jobs.

In addition to this initial expansion of its manufacturing facilities, SC Johnson is planning to expand its warehousing and distribution footprint in Brantford in the coming years. This effort, which would combine existing centers in Canada, will also bring new investment and jobs.

This investment wouldn’t have been possible without a recent resolution through the provincial land and development facilitation process to keep 58 Morrell St, adjacent to the SC Johnson facility, zoned industrial.

“Today marks an important moment in the history of SCJ Brantford. I am incredibly relieved, as is the entire SCJ team, to have this rezoning situation resolved. With this behind us, we now have the clarity and the necessary confidence to move forward with the investment needed to keep our Brantford facility strong and healthy.

We are deeply grateful to the countless SCJ people, retirees and members of the community who spoke out on behalf of our company. The outpouring of support from everyone has been heartwarming and humbling. We feel incredibly fortunate to operate in this wonderful community and are thankful for the outstanding people who have operated the SCJ Brantford facility for more than 100 years,” said Fisk Johnson, Chairman and CEO of SC Johnson.

“During the course of our history in Brantford, we’ve continually brought in future-oriented production opportunities. That flexibility to respond to the market and maintain the competitiveness of our factory resulted in the manufacturing of nearly 200 different products during our time here. This new and significant investment, particularly the addition of a popular, fast-growing product line, will continue to benefit the SCJ Brantford team and community for years to come.”

In the last 20 years, SC Johnson has given roughly 34 million CAD (in today’s dollars) to local organizations that help the people and families of Brantford. In addition, the company will continue to support and upgrade the SC Johnson Community Center.

“Brantford is a special place and an important piece of SC Johnson’s history,” Johnson added. “We have a strong sense of commitment to Brantford and will continue the company legacy of being a contributor to this community.”
