In the first quarter of 2022, delivery timber prices for both sawlogs and pulpwood increased compared to the fourth quarter of 2021. The price of sawlogs increased by just under 4 per cent and pulpwood by just over 3 per cent. In Southern Norrland, the sawlog price increased by just under 4 per cent, followed by Northern Norrland by just under 3 per cent. In Götaland, the sawlog price increased by just over 1 per cent, while in Svealand it remained unchanged. In terms of the price of pulpwood, the increase was greatest in Northern Norrland by 6 per cent, while pulpwood prices in Southern Norrland remained unchanged. In both Svealand and Götaland, pulpwood prices increased by just over 1 per cent. Continued upturn compared to the first quarter of 2021 Pulpwood prices increased by 8 per cent as a whole. The increase was greatest in Götaland with just under 11 per cent, followed by Norra and Södra Norrland with just under 8 and just over 5 per cent increase respectively. In Svealand, however, pulpwood prices remained unchanged. Explanation Average prices are volume-weighted round timber quantities, they apply to current prices where inflation has not been taken into account.
Even when the comparison is made against the first quarter of 2021, increasing timber prices are visible. Overall, the sawlog price increased by just over 13 per cent. Regionally, there are increases of 13 and 10 percent in Götaland and Svealand respectively. In Norrland, prices also increased by just under 11 and 9 per cent in Southern and Northern Norrland respectively.
Delivery timber is a mode of delivery whereby the forest owner himself, with the help of employees or contractors, delivers the timber to the road. Delivery timber represents less than 10 percent of total timber sales.
