In the document, the Company shows the results of its actions implemented for the proper management of its forests, through social and sustainability policies. A reference in management oriented towards sustainable development, Klabin has just made available for consultation the 2023 Public Summary of the Management Plan of the Angatuba Unit, in São Paulo. The area is responsible for the supply of raw material for paper production and wood marketing, occupying approximately 4.3 thousand hectares of planted forests with pine and eucalyptus and 3.7 thousand hectares of conserved forests that extend through the municipalities of Angatuba, Itapeva, São Miguel Arcanjo, Tapiraí, Buri, Guareí, Itapetininga, Paranapanema and Sarapuí. The document brings together the Company's efforts in forest management and socio-environmental responsibility, in addition to bringing socio-environmental indicators. It is worth mentioning that Klabin adopts environmentally correct practices in the exploitation of the productive potential of forests and in the protection of natural resources. To this end, it maps the environmental liabilities on its properties and, if necessary, implements procedures for correction. At the Angatuba Unit, the Company's decisions for timber forest management are made based on studies, simulations and analysis of information about the forest resources of the area. Based on these data, harvest rates and the most appropriate strategies for forest intervention are defined. The pine and eucalyptus seedlings are produced in a third-party nursery. Before planting, the area is cleared and receives agricultural inputs that help conserve water resources and soil characteristics. With regard to Social and Environmental Responsibility, Klabin employs, in the area and in the other regions where it operates, comprehensive occupational health and safety programs, as well as training and benefits to promote quality of life for employees. In addition, it develops partnerships for forest promotion in rural properties for planting forests and with small producers (up to 200 km away from the factory), keeping channels of dialogue open with neighboring communities through telephone, e-mail, meetings and other channels. Klabin considers the conservation of the environment a priority in its actions. One of the main strategies used is mosaic management, where the planting of pine and eucalyptus is combined with areas of native forests. This innovative approach, pioneered by the company, has proven highly effective in increasing forest production potential, while contributing to the protection of natural resources and the maintenance of biodiversity. The document also brings information obtained from the periodic monitoring of the fauna and flora carried out on the farms of the Unit. In 2023, the work identified 404 species of native plants, of which 18 considered endangered, and 409 species of wildlife, 16 of which are listed under threat of extinction. The 2023 Public Summary of the Forest Management Plan is available on the Company's website (https://klabin.com.br/sustentabilidade/estrategia/resumo-publico).
