OUR recyclable cake-boards – launched earlier this year – can be custom printed, so why not give your Christmas range a lift, and buy them printed with a festive design? Traditional cake-boards are either foil-backed or lined with plastic to give the required grease/moisture barrier – but Sirane developed a cost-effective alternative. Our Earthboard Eco cake-boards are barrier-coated boards. The eco-friendly water-based coating gives the cake-boards the required grease/moisture barrier – but crucially the board can easily be recycled by consumers in the paper/board recycling stream. And our fully recyclable cake-boards can be offered with custom printing – meaning they are ideal for those festive products, where customers want things extra special. Ross Griffin, director of board products, said: “Recent stats show that in the UK alone we spend £368m a year on cakes. Many of these will use cake-boards, and the vast majority of these boards – if not all – will currently end up in landfill or incinerated. “A lot of cakes are sold at Christmas. And that means a lot of cake boards and cake drums, with most ending up in landfill when there really is no need for it. “We can supply a recyclable alternative, which does the same job as traditional boards, at virtually the same cost – in fact in some cases, we can actually offer a cost saving. “This is a sustainable, plastic-free, recyclable packaging alternative which functions in exactly the same way and offers retailers a range of additional branding options. “As we’re able to also offer printed boards – as well as a huge range of colour options – brands have a chance to get creative, and do something different with their cake-boards.” The new Earthboard Eco cake-boards are available in pearlescent coatings, including silver, gold and black, as standard. We can also supply any Pantone colour subject. Ross added: “Whether it’s corporate colours for a retailer, or branding and designs based on Christmas, we can offer a huge range of options to anyone selling cakes.” Standard sizes are 6in, 7in, 8in, 9in, 10in, 11in and 12in, circular and square. However, we can supply any size/shape as required. We can also supply patisserie boards. Our Earthboard Eco cake-boards are 1550 micron (approximately 1.5mm) and we can also offer a double thickness board, which is 3100 micron (approximately 3mm). We can offer our recently developed recyclable cake drum in both 4500 and 6000 micron. Recyclable cake-boards & drums are also available to buy from our Field & Fare website. We also offer a range of recyclable salmon and charcuterie boards, which also have a range of colour options, as well as the option to have them supplied custom printed.
