Travelers Can Now Get a Taste of the Jacksonville Beach Staple in Concourse A

Today global restaurateur HMSHost, part of Avolta AG (SIX: AVOL) and a world leader in creating dining for travel venues, celebrated the opening of Angie’s Subs at Jacksonville International Airport (JAX). The JAX restaurant brings the iconic flavors and vibe of the Jacksonville Beach staple straight to the terminal, providing travelers with the opportunity to get a taste of a brand that’s been serving its famous subs and sweet tea to North Florida locals and visitors for over 40 years.

Fans of Angie’s Subs have been buzzing about the opening since the news was announced last summer. The highly anticipated outpost at JAX serves a menu of beloved favorites from the flagship Beach Boulevard shop, like its top-selling “Peruvian,” made with ham, Genoa salami, bacon, Italian sausage, provolone, and Angie’s Subs’ Peruvian sauce. The restaurant also serves a variety of breakfast items, including an A.M. twist on the famous Peruvian, made with added sausage crumbles and an egg patty on a plain bagel. Additionally, travelers can enjoy a selection of salads, sides including deviled eggs and chicken salad, desserts like Banana Puddin’, and, of course, the brand’s delicious sweet tea.

“As JAX continues to grow, it provides us with an excellent opportunity to showcase beloved local brands in the terminal,” Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh said. “Recent additions in the airport like Southern Grounds, and now Angie’s, highlight what makes Northeast Florida so unique.”

“As a local boy and businessman, it has been an honor to work with HMSHost and JAX in putting an Angie’s Subs in the airport,” said Ed Malin, owner of Angie’s Subs. “They have been a pleasure to work with and I look forward to serving millions of hot Peruvian subs to travelers. Oh, and lots of Schweet tea.”

HMSHost operates Angie’s Subs at JAX with Florida-based Lee Wesley, an Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) joint venture partner. This is the fifth restaurant HMSHost has opened at JAX in two years as part of a 10-year contract that JAA awarded to HMSHost and Lee Wesley.

“Everything we do at HMSHost is about making travelers happier along their journey, and we knew from the moment we first approached Angie’s Subs about opening at Jacksonville International Airport that the restaurant would become a sought-after destination for locals and visitors alike,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Stephen Douglas. “We are grateful for our continued partnership with Jacksonville Aviation Authority and Lee Wesley, so that we can offer passengers more reasons to enjoy their time at JAX.”

Angie’s Subs at JAX is open seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
