This trend was underpinned by higher supplies of canola, as production of canola was 31.2% higher leading into 2023 than in the previous year.

A large portion of the canola grown in Canada is used by domestic crushers, who accounted for 49.4% of total disposition of canola in the 2022/2023 crop year (August 2022 to July 2023 for canola). Over the same period, exports of canola accounted for 39.4% of total disposition.
