Unicharm Corporation (CEO and President, Mr. Takahisa Takahara) announces that their local three plants in China newly installed solar power generation system. With the installation of these solar power generation systems, it will generate 8.5 million kWh per year, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 3,570 tons per year for the three plants combined. Plants installing solar power generation system. ・Unicharm Consumer Products(China)Co., Ltd. ・Unicharm Nonwoven (Tianjin) Co., Ltd ・Unicharm Packaging Material (Tianjin) Co., Ltd Unicharm Group is proceeding the introduction to renewable electricity* in Japan, Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam, U.S.A., Indonesia, Malaysia, and India. Through these efforts we expect to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions from our Group plants by approximately 56,050 tons per year. *Electricity generated by natural or renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, biomass, and small-scale hydropower. In October 2020, we announced our medium-to-long term ESG Goals, “Kyo-sei Life Vision 2030,” and have set “addressing climate change” as one of the key themes. Aiming to switch all electricity used in our business operation to 100% renewable sources by 2030. Contributing to the 17 SDGs through “Switching to Renewable Electricity” Unicharm believes that the activity of “Switching to Renewable Electricity” will contribute to the following goals of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015. 7.
