2023.09.19 Unicharm Corporation (CEO & President, Mr. Takahisa Takahara) announced that their subsidiary in India, Unicharm India Private Limited(hereinafter as UC India) has installed a new solar power generation system in Neemrana Plant. This solar power generation system will generate approximately 2 million kWh and reduce CO₂emissions by approximately 2,000 tons. Unicharm Group has introduced renewable electricity* at its plants, following Japan, Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam, The United States, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, and China. Through these efforts, we expect to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions from Unicharm Group plants by approximately 65,000 tons per year. * Electricity generated by natural or renewable energy source such as wind, solar, biomass, and small-scale hydropower. In October 2020, we announced our medium-to-long term ESG goals, “Kyo-sei Life Vision 2030,” and have set “addressing climate changed” as one of the key themes, aiming to switch all electricity used in our business operations to 100% renewable sources by 2030. Contributing to the 17 SDGs through “Switching to Renewable Electricity” Unicharm believes that the activity of “Switching to Renewable Electricity” will contribute to the following goals of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015. 7.
