UMF Corp. is now accepting nominations for its Hygiene Specialist® Excellence Award. Now in its 15th year, UMF’s annual award highlights the contributions of environmental services (EVS) departments in reducing preventable healthcare-associated infections (pHAIs). EVS managers are encouraged to nominate deserving staff members. This year’s winner will receive an all-expenses paid week-long vacation for two, including airfare, to anywhere in the 48 states. “pHAIs kill more than 75,000 people every year in the United States,” said George Clarke, UMF CEO. “EVS teams play a critical role in keeping patients, hospital staff, and visitors safe from infections. We established our National Hygiene Specialist Excellence Award 15 years ago to acknowledge and celebrate the EVS staff who work tirelessly to prevent the spread of pHAIs.” The deadline for nominations is December 15.
