Big changes are elevating safety, quality and reliability in Muskogee. The facility is in the midst of executing several projects worth $50 million that are transforming its operations. Since the initial announcement in May 2022, some improvements have already been completed. Crews have installed a jumbo roll tissue line and implemented Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in certain areas of the facility. The mill makes bath tissue, paper towels, and napkins for both retail and away-from-home markets, including well-known consumer brands such as Sparkle®. Muskogee Mill’s new jumbo roll tissue (JBT) line enables the mill to improve its competitive position in the market and improves systems for safety, environmental, reliability, and quality. A new paper machine winder will soon replace the old one. A winder converts large rolls of paper, known as parent rolls, into smaller rolls to be converted into tissue and towel products. This is done by either slitting or cutting the paper web into narrower rolls. The last phase of the project will involve further automation where AGVs will be deployed to handle raw materials, streamline processes and further enhance efficiency. “This capital investment strengthens our commitment as a community partner and bolsters economic stability,” said Amy Borovich, Muskogee Mill facility leader. “Since the projects began, we’ve not only created new jobs but have also greatly improved the safety of our employees and reliability of our equipment that will meet the needs of our customers for many years to come.” Since 1978, the mill has been in operation in Muskogee and now employs over 700 dedicated workers making it the city's largest private employer.
