CMPC’s CEO, Francisco Ruiz-Tagle, attended the 18th Latin American conference of Fastmarkets Forest Products, which took place at the Renaissance Hotel, Sao Paulo, between August 7th and 9th. As a top executive in the planted tree sector, Francisco shared the stage with executives from other large firms in the “CEO Panel Discussion – Pulp and Fiber.” CMPC’s global director emphasized the sector’s importance during this energy transition period and the development of new products that utilize cellulose as a raw material to replace plastic. “With our investments in the region and Brazil, we will expand our businesses in three sectors: Cellulose, Tissue, and Biopackaging. A sustainable future involves the development of our industry and the development of new products that can be made with this biodegradable, renewable, and recyclable raw material,” he added. Moreover, Francisco explained the advantages of producing in Latin America and the reasons for its booming forestry industry. “The sector is unbeatable in the region – not only due to the lower prices of wood but also because factories and logistics are investments in efficiency and productivity,” he said.
