Ecolab recognized as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion by the Disability Equality Index for the second consecutive year, earning a top score of 100

July 12, 2023 (press release) –

For the second consecutive year, Ecolab Inc., the global leader in water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions and services that protect people, planet and business health, has been recognized by the Disability Equality Index as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion. Earning a top score of 100, the achievement highlights the work the company has done to support inclusion in the workplace.

The recognition comes from a joint effort of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the nation’s largest disability rights organization, and Disability:IN, a global business disability inclusion network. Scores range from 0 to 100, and the index serves as a benchmark tool to measure how well companies are providing opportunities and supporting individuals with disabilities.

“Together, we have made incredible progress in disability inclusion, and though we still have a long way to go, we should be proud of our accomplishments and the momentum we’re carrying into future initiatives,” said Ecolab Chairman and CEO Christophe Beck. “The only way we can achieve our goals as a company is to create a supportive environment that makes us all feel we belong and are valued equally.”

Fostering a culture of belonging that empowers all employees to be their best is at the heart of Ecolab’s wide-ranging diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, said Dexter Davis, vice president, Human Resources, Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

“We do that by creating a culture that promotes authenticity, that recognizes the value each one of us brings to the table,” he said. “We all play an important role in rigorously practicing inclusivity in everything we do, and this work is never done.”

In 2020, Ecolab launched its Disability, Ability and Wellness Network (DAWN), an employee resource group committed to supporting the advancement of employees with differing abilities as well as caretakers. DAWN continues to implement key initiatives including building cross-functional relationships across teams and increasing accessibility awareness.

Ecolab is committed to expanding the recruitment and hiring of people with disabilities and enhancing support through internal initiatives and community partnerships.

The Disability Equality Index (DEI) is a comprehensive benchmarking tool that helps companies build a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions that they can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality. Each company receives a score, on a scale of zero (0) to 100, with those earning 80 and above recognized as a “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion”.

The DEI is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the nation’s largest disability rights organization, and Disability:IN, the global business disability inclusion network, to collectively advance the inclusion of people with disabilities. The organizations are complimentary and bring unique strengths that make the project relevant and credible to corporations and the disability community. The tool was developed by the DEI Advisory Committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts, and disability advocates. Learn more at: www.DisabilityEqualityIndex.org.
