How the new A.Celli customized nonwovens winder allowed PGI France (part of Berry Global Group) to achieve the desired results in terms of safety and reduction of manual operations.
Polymer Group Inc. (PGI France), now part of Berry Global, is a company focused on the production of nonwovens for the hygiene, wipes, medical, and industrial markets. With one of the largest global platforms in the industry, PGI operates manufacturing and converting facilities throughout seven countries. Its customers include multi-national and regional consumer and industrial product manufacturers. The challenge The request made by Berry Global was simple yet challenging. Their production plant, located in Bailleul, France, was using an obsolete winder acquired in the 1970s whose safety measures were not aligned to current regulations. In addition, the machinery didn’t respect the internal “No Touch” Berry politics, which provides that all moving parts, for safety, must not be accessible to the operator...
