Verra launches consultation on proposed revisions to improved forest management methodology; they include extended timeframe for a project to demonstrate that it meets FSC certification requirements, and a corrected formula for quantifying wood products

WASHINGTON , February 3, 2023 (press release) –

Verra has launched a public consultation on proposed revisions to VM0003 Methodology for Improved Forest Management through Extension of Rotation Age (PDF). The consultation will run until 4 March 2023.

The proposed revisions include the following:

  • An extended timeframe during which a project can demonstrate that it meets Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification requirements;
  • A corrected formula for quantifying wood products; and
  • An updated uncertainty deduction equation that is consistent with the VCS Methodology Requirements (PDF).

These changes are included as in a mark-up version of the methodology document. Stakeholders can submit comments on the proposed revisions to methodologies@verra.org by Saturday, 4 March 2023.
