Australia , August 19, 2022 (press release) –

Murdoch’s Boola Katitjin was recently featured on ABC television as a prime example of the benefits of mass engineered timber construction.

Not only from a sustainability perspective (timber buildings have a far lighter carbon footprint and use a completely renewable resource), but also the aesthetic and wellbeing benefits of timber.

Connection to Country is a key pillar for the Boola Katitjin project and this will be reflected throughout the building via digital and physical art, as well as the stunning timber design.

The landmark project will set the benchmark for timber design globally and become the largest timber building in Western Australia once complete.

The University hopes the project will help act as a catalyst for the Western Australia timber industry to sustainably scale up capacity and capability to deliver projects such as Boola Katitjin.

ABC’s Landline story provides good insight into the potential of this emerging industry and what other upcoming projects are pushing the boundaries of timber construction.
