The FIBRAEC project aims to research and develop a process for the transformation of polyester textile waste (difficult to recycle and of pre-consumer origin that are currently deposited in landfills) into textile fibres with high added value, which will be used as raw material for the manufacture of new products, promoting the material recovery of textile waste and its circular economy (Fiber2Fiber Concept). Furthermore, use cases will be explored, for the PET fibres obtained, in the AEC sector (architecture, engineering and construction) and the research and development of new formulations for asphalts, concretes and mortars will be addressed, diversifying their applicability, currently focused on the automotive sector. This project has been supported by the expenditure budget of the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment of the Basque Government and co-financed by the European Union through the ERDF (ZL-2023/00772).
