Two packaging solutions made of Metsa Board's paperboard win Gold Awards in the 2023 European Carton Excellence Awards, organized by Pro Carton and ECMA
Pro Carton and ECMA have published the results of the European Carton Excellence Award 2023. Two packaging solutions made of Metsä Board's paperboard won Gold Awards in the competition. The results were announced on 21 September at ECMA’s annual awards gala in Seville, Spain.
"We were honoured to receive these awards. It is especially great that one of the winners is a packaging, where a plastic part is replaced by our paperboard. This is a very good and concrete example of how our paperboard can help reduce the amount of plastic," says Anders Ek, Metsä Board’s Sales Director, Converters, FBB EMEA.
Anders Ek received the recognitions at the event.
The amount of plastic in Karbest’s Carrés de Chocolat Noir packaging was successfully reduced by replacing the previous plastic tray with Metsä Board’s fresh fibre paperboard. The packaging is made of MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright.
This packaging concept, developed by Lucaprint for Spirit Brothers, is manufactured without the use of glue, as the bottle is securely locked in place thanks to the strategic design of the packaging, coupled with a separate drawstring.
The competition is organized by the European Association of Carton and Cartonboard manufacturers, Pro Carton, and the European Carton Markers Association ECMA.
