June 9, 2023 (press release) –

Soil investigations are currently being carried out for Wellpappe Alzenau for the construction of the new corrugated board plant in the Alzenau-Nord industrial area. This is the first step in the "New Wellpappe Alzenau Building" project, which is accompanied by an upgrading of the previous site for the inner city of Alzenau.

The new site of Wellpappe Alzenau is located on the edge of the Alzenau-Nord industrial area. Exploratory drilling is currently being carried out here, which is necessary for the preparation of a building ground report. The ground surveys will be completed within a few days.

The new building frees up a large area in the middle of the city of Alzenau with the old site for attractive development opportunities. In the extraordinarily good location, numerous apartments or facilities can be built that are within walking distance to Alzenau city center. This can save a lot of individual traffic for the residents. In addition, the area surrounding the site with its beautiful location south of the Kahl and the adjacent park is quiet and attractive.

Another big advantage of the new building is the saving of delivery traffic in the urban area. Above all, this brings great profits for the school center and the kindergarten in Edith-Stein-Straße, which are then located in a truck-free and therefore traffic-calmed street. In addition to a quieter environment, safety aspects are also being improved, such as boarding and alighting at the bus stop for schoolchildren. In addition, there is no delivery traffic on the access roads to the 'Alzenau Mitte' motorway exit and on trips to the Wellpappe Alzenau external warehouse. The residents in particular benefit from the reduced noise and traffic pollution, for example along Hanauer Strasse.

The new Wellpappe Alzenau plant will be located in the northern part of the industrial area, so that all delivery traffic will be routed directly via state road 2305 onto the motorway and thus completely shifted away from the city.

The 250 employees of the corrugated cardboard companies in Alzenau and Hasselroth-Gondsroth will work at one location in the future and can reach the new company through the industrial area or the state road, so that there is no additional commuter traffic in the city center. Almost 40% of the employees live in the city limits and can still reach their place of work on foot or by bicycle. This relieves the environment and the city. The employees of Wellpappe Alzenau are very pleased that the "New Wellpappe Alzenau building" project is now starting and their jobs are secured in the long term.

All in all, with the new construction of the Alzenau corrugated board in the Alzenau-Nord industrial area and the resulting free space in the city, the entire area south of the Kahl will be significantly upgraded. The city of Alzenau can be made even more livable thanks to the possibility of building central and beautifully located apartments and the reduction in traffic in this area.
