November graphic paper shipments in Europe increased 3.0% year-over-year to 2.019 million tonnes, with three of six grades decreasing, and total exports up 0.8%; January-November deliveries up 4.5% from year ago, while exports increased 5.9%: Euro-Graph

European graphic paper shipments in November 2021 totaled 2.019 million tonnes, up 3.0% from the 1.961 million tonnes shipped in November 2020, according to the European Association of Graphic Paper Producers’ (Euro-Graph) statistics. 
 
Three of the six graphic paper grades covered by Euro-Graph registered overall shipment decreases in November 2021 compared to those of November 2020, with coated woodfree, uncoated woodfree and coated mechanical reels registering increases. At the same time, shipments to Europe were down for three of the six grades, with coated mechanical reels, coated woodfree and uncoated woodfree registering increases, while exports decreased for three of the six graphic paper grades as well, with newsprint, coated woodfree and uncoated woodfree registering an increase.  
 
In November 2021, total graphic paper deliveries to Europe of 1.696 million tonnes were up 3.4% year-over-year, while total European demand increased 2.9% to 1.747 million tonnes. 
 
The deliveries to outside of Europe of 0.323 million tonnes increased 0.8% in November 2021 over November 2020. 
 
For the first eleven months, overall Euro-Graph deliveries totaled 22.075 million tonnes, up 4.5% from those of January-November 2020. 
 
Year-to-date shipments to Europe of 17.571 million tonnes increased 4.1%, and European demand of 18.102 million tonnes was up 2.8%. Deliveries to outside of Europe increased 5.9%, to 4.504 million tonnes. 
 
In November 2021, uncoated woodfree (UWF) papermakers shipped 0.520 million tonnes, up 6.9% year-over-year. Of this, 0.442 million tonnes were delivered to Europe, up 6.9%, while the 0.078 million tonnes exported increased 7.4%. European demand of 0.478 million tonnes was up 5.6%. 
 
For year-to-date, UWF shipments reached 5.700 million tonnes, up 10.8% year-over-year. Deliveries to Europe of 4.674 million tonnes increased 10.1%, while those to outside of Europe increased 14.0%, to 1.025 million tonnes. European demand of 5.056 million tonnes was up 6.6%. 
 
Coated woodfree (CWF) shipments in November 2021 totaled 0.376 million tonnes, climbing 13.7% from a year ago. Producers shipped 0.313 million tonnes to Europe, up 12.6%, and 0.063 million tonnes to outside of Europe, increasing 19.9%. European demand was 0.318 million tonnes, up 11.7%. 
 
Cumulatively in 2021, CWF shipments of 3.819 million tonnes increased 11.8%, including 2.967 million tonnes shipped to Europe, up 8.6%, and 0.852 million tonnes exported, increasing 24.5%. European demand of 3.020 million tonnes was up 7.6%. 
 
Newsprint shipments in November 2021 of 0.416 million tonnes decreased 0.3% year-over-year, including 0.322 million tonnes shipped domestically, down 1.6%, and 0.094 million tonnes exported, increasing 4.5%. European demand of 0.333 million tonnes was down 2.1%. 
 
Year-to-date, newsprint shipments totaled 4.548 million tonnes, off 3.3% from January-November 2020, including 3.362 million tonnes shipped to Europe, falling 2.0%, and 1.186 million tonnes shipped to outside of Europe, down 6.8%. European demand was 3.459 million tonnes, declining 3.4%. 
 
Coated mechanical reels producers delivered 0.342 million tonnes in November 2021, up 3.1% year-over-year. This included 0.289 million tonnes shipped to Europe, increasing 6.2%, and 0.053 million tonnes exported, down 11.5%. 
 
Over the first eleven months of 2021, shipments of coated mechanical reels totaled 3.713 million tonnes, climbing 2.4%. There were 2.875 million tonnes delivered to Europe, up 1.5%, and the 0.838 million tonnes exported increasing by 5.6%. 
 
SC-magazine deliveries in November 2021 totaled 0.215 million tonnes, down 8.3% from a year ago. This included 0.197 million tonnes shipped to Europe, decreasing 6.7%, and 0.017 million tonnes shipped to outside of Europe, down 23.3%. 
 
Year-to-date 2021, SC-magazine shipments totaled 2.468 million tonnes, down 0.2% from the year-ago period. There were 2.171 million tonnes delivered domestically, decreasing 1.2%, while the 0.297 million tonnes exported increased 8.2%. 
 
November 2021 shipments of uncoated mechanical papers (improved and others) of 0.151 million tonnes decreased 6.6% from those of November 2020. Producers delivered 0.132 million tonnes to Europe, down 4.0%, while deliveries to outside of Europe of 0.018 million tonnes fell 22.1%. 
 
January-November deliveries of uncoated mechanical papers (improved and others) totaled 1.828 million tonnes, up 3.2% year-over-year. Producers shipped 1.521 million tonnes to Europe, increasing 5.5%, and 0.306 million tonnes to outside of Europe, falling 6.9%.
