February graphic paper shipments in Europe decreased 6.2% year-over-year to 1.757 million tonnes, with five of six grades decreasing, and total exports down 26.9%: Euro-Graph

European graphic paper shipments in February 2022 totaled 1.757 million tonnes, down 6.2% from the 1.872 million tonnes shipped in February 2021, according to the European Association of Graphic Paper Producers’ (Euro-Graph) statistics. 
 
Five of the six graphic paper grades covered by Euro-Graph registered overall shipment decreases in February 2022 compared to those of February 2021, with only coated woodfree registering an increase. At the same time, shipments to Europe were down for four of the six grades, with newsprint and coated woodfree registering increases, while exports decreased for all six graphic paper grades.  
 
In February 2022, total graphic paper deliveries to Europe of 1.484 million tonnes were down 1.0% year-over-year, while total European demand decreased 1.1% to 1.533 million tonnes. 
 
The deliveries to outside of Europe of 0.273 million tonnes decreased 26.9% in February 2022 from February 2021. 
 
In February 2022, uncoated woodfree (UWF) papermakers shipped 0.452 million tonnes, down 7.5% year-over-year. Of this, 0.397 million tonnes were delivered to Europe, down 5.0%, while the 0.055 million tonnes exported decreased 22.5%. European demand of 0.432 million tonnes was down 4.9%. 
 
Coated woodfree (CWF) shipments in February 2022 totaled 0.332 million tonnes, up 6.7% from a year ago. Producers shipped 0.269 million tonnes to Europe, up 11.3%, and 0.062 million tonnes to outside of Europe, decreasing 9.4%. European demand was 0.274 million tonnes, up 10.9%. 
 
Newsprint shipments in February 2022 of 0.367 million tonnes decreased 2.9% year-over-year, including 0.286 million tonnes shipped domestically, up 8.1%, and 0.081 million tonnes exported, decreasing 28.6%. European demand of 0.295 million tonnes was up 8.0%. 
 
Coated mechanical reels producers delivered 0.265 million tonnes in February 2022, down 15.0% year-over-year. This included 0.221 million tonnes shipped to Europe, decreasing 12.4%, and 0.044 million tonnes exported, down 26.2%. 
 
SC-magazine deliveries in February 2022 totaled 0.190 million tonnes, down 11.7% from a year ago. This included 0.178 million tonnes shipped to Europe, decreasing 4.3%, and 0.011 million tonnes shipped to outside of Europe, down 60.5%. 
 
February 2022 shipments of uncoated mechanical papers (improved and others) of 0.152 million tonnes decreased 10.1% from those of February 2021. Producers delivered 0.132 million tonnes to Europe, down 3.0%, while deliveries to outside of Europe of 0.020 million tonnes fell 39.4%.
