EU recovered paper exports to India remain tangled in red tape

EuRIC’s recovered paper association, ERPA, said it will require a minimum of six more weeks before the EU can can again export recovered paper to India, Euwid reported on Feb. 22.

In November, a clerical error from EU regulations unintentionally banned recovered paper exports to India. EuRIC said it would correct the error, but Indian and EU players have criticized the procedure for taking too long.

The export ban has created supply chain bottlenecks, as India is the EU’s largest foreign recovered paper importer. India is currently facing a paper production supply crisis on high demand and short supplies amid the ban and to US port congestion.
