In 1922, the "big", new paper machine 1 replaced two outdated predecessors from the early days of industrialization. 100 years later it is the smallest of three paper machines at DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE in Lachendorf and is responsible for 15% of production. Thanks to regular investments, it is state-of-the-art and still competitive on the anniversary. The core competence of the paper machine is security paper. For forgery-proof documents, papers from Lachendorf are equipped with security features that are also known from banknotes: watermarks, test pen reactions, features visible in UV light. DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE uses it to supply customers all over the world, who use it to make notary contracts, vehicle registration documents, birth certificates, cheques, vouchers, prescriptions for medicines, tax stamps, tickets and much more. = There are also presents: For the one hundredth anniversary, DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE donated a new film press to the machine. With the investment in the millions, energy consumption is reduced, performance is increased and there are more possibilities for coated papers. return
The "small" paper machine also plays an important role in the development of new products. Production samples and small requirements for developing markets can be produced more cheaply and flexibly on a small machine. As the market grows, the bigger and faster machines take over the products.
These are good reasons to look back and forward to a long life. The celebration with the workforce took place at the grill - under chestnut trees, which are of a similar age to paper machine 1.
