(Pilsen, Xth February, 2024) – Doosan Škoda Power, a leading global power plant technology provider, has successfully commissioned a state-of-the-art 270 MW steam turbine at Metsä Fibre Kemi Bioproduct Mill in Finland. This milestone achievement marks a significant step towards enhancing efficiency and sustainability in the pulp production industry.
Metsä Fibre‘s Kemi Bioproduct Mill is a significant investment by Metsä Group, aiming to revolutionize the pulp production industry's environmental footprint. The mill will produce some 1.5 million tonnes of softwood and hardwood pulp per year, as well as many other bioproducts. Additionally, it will produce 2.0 TWh of renewable electricity per year, which equals roughly 2.5 percent of Finnish total electricity production. By replacing fossil fuels with renewable bioenergy, the mill significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to the transition towards a carbon-neutral future.
