Bimbo Bakeries USA announced Friday that it is shutting down its bun line and laying off 60 workers at its Fresno location.
The company is part of Mexico's Grupo Bimbo and owns many brands, including Entenmann's and Sara Lee.
The bakery at 160 L St. in Fresno makes bread and buns. The company has "excess capacity" at its bun line in Fresno and will shut it down Aug. 29, according to a news release. The work will be shifted to the company's other bakeries in the U.S.
Human resources representatives are meeting with employees to discuss severance and other benefits, including resources to ease their transition.
