Oasis Trading LLC, the owner of the majority of an 130-acre site in Warren, Arkansas, is building a new softwood lumber sawmill on the property that formerly housed a hardwood sawmill run by Potlatch Corp., according to a report by the Saline River Chronicle.
Oasis Trading operates a facility in Hermitage, Arkansas, that manufactures lumber and hardwood mats, and says the sawmill in Warren City will be ready for test runs in 6-8 weeks. The company is already operating the kilns, and expects the mill to produce 500,000 board ft. per week and employ 40 workers at full operation. The sawmill will process softwood lumber, but will have the capability to process hardwood.
The property accommodates two other timber-related manufacturing operations; Floyd Dale Ashcraft, a specialty wood products business, and D. May Inc. which employs eight people cutting hardwood for delivery to mills in the area for further processing.
D. May rents space from Oasis and is in the process of building a new facility, and Ashcraft Wood Products is operated by former Potlatch employee Floyd Dale Ashcraft. Ashcraft's company employs 17 workers and occupies 14 acres of the site.
