RALEIGH, North Carolina , May 15, 2014 (press release) – Stock Building Supply Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq:STCK), a large, diversified lumber and building materials distributor and solutions provider that sells primarily to new construction and remodeling contractors, today announced the opening of two new structural component plants serving customers in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and Salt Lake City, Utah metropolitan areas.

In Middlesex, North Carolina, production of roof and floor trusses recently began in a 36,000 square foot location. This facility will join existing store and distribution locations in Raleigh, Apex, Johnston County and Franklin County to serve Raleigh-Durham and adjacent markets in North Carolina.

Rick Vancil, General Manager of the Raleigh-Durham market, stated, "Our sales and service teams are excited about this increased ability to provide local homebuilders and remodeling contractors with a market-leading structural component offering, which includes trusses, prefabricated wall panels, engineered wood, and the unparalleled customer service provided by our associates."

In Salt Lake City, Utah, roof and floor truss manufacturing has been relocated to a larger and more strategically positioned 60,000 square foot facility. This new location, serviced by rail spur access, will also provide additional capacity for lumber and building materials distribution. It joins an existing component plant in Lindon and store locations in West Jordan, Layton and Park City to serve this growing metropolitan area.

Fritz Froerer, General Manager of the Utah market, stated, "We have served homebuilders and contractors in the Salt Lake Valley for over 100 years, and structural components are a key element of our product and service offering. This new location will allow us to build on our local leadership with enhanced production capacity, reduced lead times and continued high standards for quality."

Jeff Rea, President and Chief Executive Officer, added, "Across our footprint, builders are increasingly using prefabricated components as a means to reduce cycle times and improve jobsite efficiencies. The additional component capacity now available in North Carolina and Utah increases our total number of component plants to 15 and demonstrates our commitment to capturing and professionally servicing the increased demand for this strategic product category."
