MILTON KEYNES, England , April 29, 2014 (press release) – Visitors to Interpack are being asked for their ideas for applications where AquaSense™, the latest label innovation from Essentra Packaging, can revolutionise packs.
And every idea submitted by visitors to stand C20 in Hall 07 at Messe Düsseldorf will be in with a chance of winning an iPad Mini, at the end of the show.

AquaSense™ has been designed to help maintain and control the moisture content within packs ensuring the goods do not dry out and are kept fresh – giving consumers more control than ever over the products they buy.

It features a unique absorbent AquaSense™ pad which is activated by the consumer on opening the pack or tub. The pad is placed under a tap and soaks up a specific amount of water which it then releases within the pack, keeping contents fresh, controlling humidity and reducing product waste due to goods drying out.

The AquaSense™ pad can be supplied in a variety of formats and sizes and is designed to meet the specific needs of the product it is protecting. Options include high impact graphics and designs which can combine with the freshness capability of the pad to deliver a message on adding the liquid, interacting with the consumer and acting as a means to deliver promotional campaigns.

Because the AquaSense™ pad soaks up only as much moisture as it needs, it does away with the need for the consumer to measure the dose – it is simply held under a tap to continue functioning just as effectively, giving the consumer a much more interactive relationship with the brand through the packaging.

Martin Dallas, Managing Director - Essentra Speciality Technologies, says: “There have already been some incredibly interesting conversations about areas where AquaSense™ could have real impact. But we think there are few places better to harness the ideas of packaging’s top innovators than Interpack … it’s a very exciting prospect.”

Award-winning Essentra Packaging will be at Interpack 2014, 8-14 May, with an impressive series of developments which can integrate the multi-functionality of easy opening, reclosing, informing and protecting into packs across the consumer and healthcare sectors.

Its products combine acclaimed design and technology, and are trusted by manufacturers and brand owners in end markets such as food and drink, pharmaceutical and healthcare, household and industrial, and paper and board.

The winner of the iPad Mini will be decided in a draw on the final day of Interpack. The winner will be notified after the exhibition.
