United States Patent no. 8,704,051, issued on April 22, was assigned to Pioneer Hi Bred International Inc (Johnston, Iowa).
"Maize variety hybrid X18B733" was invented by Joseph D. Anderson (Union City, Tenn.) and Khusi Ram Tiwari (Tallahasse, Fla.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A novel maize variety designated X18B733 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof, produced by crossing Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. proprietary inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprises crossing hybrid maize variety X18B733 with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X18B733 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. This invention relates to the maize variety X18B733, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X18B733. This invention further relates to methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X18B733."
The patent was filed on March 22, 2011, under Application No. 13/053,344.
