Canadian Farm Input Price Index falls 0.2% in Q4 2013 amid 2.4% drop in animal production, Statistics Canada say

The Farm Input Price Index decreased 0.2% in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Animal production (-2.4%) put downward pressure on the index while machinery and motor vehicles (+1.1%) put upward pressure on the index.
The index fell in three provinces in the fourth quarter. Quebec (-1.5%) contributed the most to the national decline.
Nationally, farm input prices increased 1.0% between the fourth quarter of 2012 and the fourth quarter of 2013.
General business costs (+4.7%) contributed the most to the year-over-year price movement.
The index increased in nine provinces between the fourth quarter of 2012 and the fourth quarter of 2013. The largest contribution to the increase was in Alberta (+2.2%).
