March 27, 2014 () – Seven-Eleven Japan Co. will open around 500 outlets at West Japan Railway Co.'s train stations in western Japan, sources familiar with the matter said Thursday.

The convenience store operator and JR West will replace about 200 Heart-in convenience stores and some 300 Kiosk stores located inside JR West's station facilities with Seven-Eleven outlets over roughly five years, the sources said.

The leaders of the two companies are scheduled to hold a press conference Thursday afternoon in Osaka.

The tie-up marks a significant expansion in western Japan for Seven-Eleven, Japan's biggest convenience store operator.
