Stora Enso criticized by some of its institutional investors after news that some of its sub suppliers in Pakistan employ child labor

March 12, 2014 () – Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet has conducted interviews with some of Stora Enso's institutional investors concerning the news that the company's sub suppliers in Pakistan are employing child labour. Swedbank Robur says that they received the news last week and that they view the matter as extremely serious and that their confidence in Stora Enso is affected. Folksam raise strong criticism against Stora Enso for neglecting to inform its share holders that the investment in Bulleh Shah was made with the knowledge that child labour was used. Parul Sharma, former head of sustainability at Stora Enso, says that the company lacks understanding of the connection between human rights and purchasing processes.
