Residents of the Turkey Creek community in Alachua, Florida, have complained of noise from the Gainesville Renewable Energy Center (GREC) in Gainesville, Florida, WCJB-TV reported on Sept. 4.
GREC is currently running a series of start-up tests in preparation for beginning commercial operation.
Residents describe the noises coming from the plant as similar to the sounds produced by a jet engine.
GREC said that it had hired contractors to conduct sound level tests around Turkey Creek, and urged residents to call if they heard noises from the plant.
