Pioneer Hi Bred International issued US patent for 'maize hybrid X08B730'

– United States Patent no. 8,609,929, issued on Dec. 17, was assigned to Pioneer Hi Bred International Inc (Johnston, Iowa).
"Maize hybrid X08B730" was invented by Mario Rosario Carlone Jr. (Princeton, Ill.) and Andrew Jon Ross (Lisbon, Iowa).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A novel maize variety designated X08B730 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof, produced by crossing Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. proprietary inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprises crossing hybrid maize variety X08B730 with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X08B730 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. This invention relates to the maize variety X08B730, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X08B730. This invention further relates to methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X08B730."
The patent was filed on Feb. 15, 2012, under Application No. 13/396,794.
