United States Patent no. 8,609,964, issued on Dec. 17, was assigned to Monsanto Technology LLC (St. Lous, Mo.).
"Plants and seeds of hybrid corn variety CH738196" was invented by Michael Dragonuk (Steward, Ill.), Chris Eichhorn (Williamsburg, Iowa), Peter Guzman (Sioux Falls, S.D.), Gregory J. Holland (Troy, Ohio), Michael A. Josephs (Waterloo, Iowa), Jeffrey L. McElroy (Mahomet, Ill.), Laron L. Peters (Gothenburg, Neb.), Hector Ramirez de Leon (O'Fallon, Mo.) and Christopher L. Souder (Spencer, Iowa).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the hybrid corn variety designated CH738196. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CH738196, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CH738196 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to genetic complements of plants of variety CH738196."
The patent was filed on April 24, 2012, under Application No. 13/455,036.
