The listed Collins Foods is paying $A55.6m to acquire 48 KFC fast food restaurants in Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The seller is the Competitive Foods vehicle of entrepreneur Jack Cowin, whose earlier efforts had been hampered by a franchise agreement dispute with US-based Yum! Brands that sparked legal action in 2012. Yum! Brands has now agreed to a licence deal with Collins, which will have 169 KFC outlets nationwide
