Minnesota makes available US$2.37M in 2014 grant funding for bioenergy projects, invites proposals from biobased energy producers, researchers; deadline for proposals is Jan. 10, 2014

ST. PAUL, Minnesota , November 20, 2013 (press release) – Submit your proposals now for 2014 grant funding

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is ready to fuel innovative bioenergy projects to the tune of $2.37 million in 2014. The enrollment period for the Bioenergy and Biochemical Grant program Request for Proposals is up, running and ready for applicants. Examples of qualifying projects include current or future producers of biobased energy and organizations providing onsite research of how these systems impact our environment and our economy.

“I know this round of Request for Proposals has been highly anticipated by many individuals and groups, and I am extremely pleased it is now available to all these innovative people,” said MDA’s bioenergy manager Kevin Hennessy. “The process has undergone a facelift with the adaptation for biobased content and biobased formulated product added into the NextGen Statute. I think applicants will consider this addition a significant upgrade from the last version,” Hennessy added.

Anyone awarded a grant must contribute at least 50% to the total proposed bioenergy project cost. Proposals will be accepted until January 10, 2014 and awardees will be notified in March.
