Burgo to permanently shut down 180,000 tonnes/year of coated woodfree paper capacity at its mill in Avezzano, Italy, as of January 2014, citing overcapacity in the market; other options to be studied for mill, in uncoated papers

ALTAVILLA VINCENTINA, Italy , November 26, 2013 (press release) – Burgo has decided to permanently remove from the market the 180,000 tons capacity of CWF of its Avezzano mill as of January, 2014.

This is the consequence of a continuous reduction in market demand of CWF and of the related excess capacity in the coated woodfree market. Burgo is in the process of reassessing all its production sites with the objective of optimizing its product and logistics costs.

Further evaluation of alternative production options for Avezzano mill in the area of uncoated papers is under scrutiny.

Ardennes, Sora, Sarego and Toscolano mills will meet the demand for CWF brands and the related service needs of customers of the Group.
