Ukraine has planted 3.2 million hectares with winter crops thus far for 2014 harvest, government says; winter grain sown on 2.4 million hectares; rapeseed acreage at 815,000 hectares

September 30, 2013 () – As of September 30, agricultural enterprises have planted 3.191 million hectares with winter crops for the 2014 harvest, reads a statement made by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

Agricultural enterprises have sowed winter grain crops on 2.376 million hectares, which is 29% of the forecast, including wheat - on 2.169 million hectares (32% of the forecast), rye on 133,000 hectares (45%), and barley - on 74,000 hectares (6%).

The acreage under rapeseeds is 815,000 hectares or 88% of the forecast.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, farmers finished harvesting early cereal and oilseed crops, having gathered 32.5 million tons.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food predicts the acreage under winter crops for the 2014 harvest will be reduced by 95,700 hectares or 1.2% to 8.01 million hectares.
