Ukraine harvests 3.7 million tons of sunflowers thus far in 2013, as well as 524,000 tons of soybeans, government says

September 30, 2013 () – As at September 27, agricultural enterprises harvested 3.674 million tons of sunflowers, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food Supplies has said.

Sunflowers were harvested from 2.061 million hectares (42% of the outlook) at the yield of 17.8 centners per hectare.

Agricultural enterprises also harvested 524,000 tons of soybeans from 269,000 hectares (20%) at the yield of 19.5 centners per hectare.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, agricultural enterprises sowed 4.089 million hectares of sunflowers.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food Supplies expects the harvest of oil-bearing crops in 2013 to be 13 million tons.

The Ukroliyaprom association expects sunflower harvest of 9 million tons.
