– Archer Daniels Midland Co.’s share in global annual cocoa grinding amounts to 16%—or approximately 4 million tonnes, said ADM Director of Sustainability Cocoa Division Michiel Hendriksz during an agriculture conference, Dow Jones Newswires reported July 11.
While declining to provide a specific breakdown, Hendriksz said that the company primarily uses its cocoa grindings to produce butter, finished chocolates, compound coatings, liquor and powder, Dow Jones Newswires reported.
Worldwide, cocoa production remains highly fragmented, with farmers producing an average output of almost 1 tonne, Hendriksz added.
