Boxshop Ltd., Scotland’s largest independent manufacturer of corrugated containers, plans to invest £2.2 million (US$3.4 million) at its corrugated box plant in East Kilbride, Scotland, reported the BBC News on June 22.
The money will be spent to purchase new equipment in an effort to “target new areas of business growth,” said Douglas Lamb, managing director of the South Lanarkshire, Scotland-based company.
Boxshop will receive assistance in the form of a £300,000 Regional Selective Assistance grant.
To stay ahead of the competition, the company aims to invest in the “right products and processes,” while assuring that they are “as efficient and effective as possible,” Lamb said, the BBC News reported.
Boxshop is a “great example” of Scottish companies that have gone against the trends and experienced strong growth, said Nick Shields, Scottish Enterprise director of the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS).
The company increased its turnover since 2005 to £11.3 million from £5.7 million with the help of SMAS. It now employs 80 people and aims to increase that by 36, reported the BBC News.
