Home improvement store chain Menards Inc. is seeking to have a property located at 12701 Middlebelt in Livonia, Michigan rezoned from light manufacturing to general business as a prelude to potentially its first store in the Detroit metropolitan area on the site, Crain’s Detroit Business reported Feb. 2.
After a public hearing on the rezoning request, scheduled to occur at Livonia’s City Hall on Feb. 14, it will go before the town’s city council.
In Dec. 2010, Menard had sought to rezone a property located in Pittsfield Township, Michigan, but the request was denied in the spring of 2011.
According to the company website, Menard operates more than 250 stores across 12 states.
