Styrene producers in U.S. market to seek 8 cent/lb. price hike for January contract following 70 cent/gallon increase in feedstock benzene January contract

LOS ANGELES , January 10, 2012 () – Two U.S. styrene producers announced Jan. 9 that due to a 70 cent per gallon increase in the January feedstock benzene contract, they intend to raise the January contract by 8 cents/lb., ICIS news reported Jan. 10.

The news of the price hike comes amid ongoing negotiations for the December styrene contract where settlements at present are mixed. ICIS reported that the December contract should settle by Jan. 13.
