LOS ANGELES , December 20, 2011 () – Italy’s wastepaper market was mixed in December, with the regular grades appearing to be stable overall but a downward trend was seen in the high grades, reported EUWID-Paper on Dec. 19.

In the ordinary grades, suppliers were able to continue some of the price peaks seen in November and some merchants were able to add a few euros to the price, but most prices were flat overall.

High grade pricing was generally moving downward, with some price reductions. However, some reported that prices were unchanged.

Wastepaper supplies remain tight in December, continuing the trend seen in November. For the month, collection volumes are atypically low. Several industry insiders attributed this to the decline in paper production, EUWID-Paper reported.
