Pernod-Ricard subsidiary Irish Distillers plans to invest €100 million (US$134.7 million) for expansion of its distillery in Midleton, Ireland, to meet the demand for its Jameson Irish Whiskey brand, Process Technology News reported Dec. 5.
Irish Distillers is looking to triple the sales of its Jameson Whiskey by over 9 million cases by 2020.
The expansion will result in 60 new jobs at the plant. The company said 250 temporary construction jobs will also be created during the expansion of its manufacturing site and the construction will begin in 2012.
A total of 3.4 million cases of Jameson whiskey were sold worldwide in the 12 months to the end of June, according to the company.
