Sources say that Kraft Foods’ Oreo cookie product has cornered a 6% market share in India in the quarter ending in September, The Economic Times reported Nov. 7.
The sources quoted market research firm Nielsen, which did not confirm the numbers.
Meanwhile, Kraft’s rival in the country, Britannia’s Treat-O product, only gained a 1% market share during the quarter, sources say.
Britannia, which launched Treat-O in December in preparation for Oreo's entry, remains the market leader in the cream-biscuits segment, holding a 26.6% market share in the September quarter.
